SIUC Counseling Center

We are here to provide mental health services to SIU students. Our staff of professional psychologists and counselors is trained to help you discover ways to cope with problems in living. Our staff has a commitment to meeting the special needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds including differences of culture, race, gender, ability and sexual orientation. Our services are confidential. We will protect your privacy.

SIUC Office of Diversity and Equity

The Office of Diversity and Equity is committed to the value and importance of nurturing diversity among the faculty, staff, and students, providing an opportunity to learn in an environment free of intolerance and bigotry, and embracing productively and harnessing the differences and abilities among all of the community members here on the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus.

SIUC Wellness Center

The Wellness Center offers professional counselors who are available to assist students to engage in and promote a healthy way of living. The Center assists students in making healthy lifestyle choices through confidential consultation, skill building in sexuality education, stress management, nutrition, and alcohol and other drug education. Counseling services provide the most current, evidence-based psychotherapy including cognitive-behavioral therapy and biofeedback. Counselors hold the content of each session in the strictest confidence. The Wellness Center also offers health education presentations to classrooms, residence halls and campus organizations. Saluki Cares

The purpose of Saluki Cares is to develop, facilitate and coordinate a university-wide program of care and support for students in distress.  By working closely with faculty, staff, students and their families, SIUC will continue to display a culture of care and demonstrate to our students and their families that they are an important part of the community.

SIUC Clinical Center

The Clinical Center at Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been part of the Southern Illinois community since 1958. The Clinical Center serves as a training and research site for various campus departments that train professionals for work in psychological, educational, rehabilitation and health care services. In that training and research capacity we provide a range of services designed to improve the lives of the individuals we serve. Our clients come from many walks of life.

The Women's Center

The Women's Center provides comprehensive services to survivors -- women, men, adolescents, and children -- of domestic violence and sexual assault as well as education and prevention services.

Church of the Good Shepherd

We are an Open and Affirming Congregation, welcoming all regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, marital status, or social, physical or mental ability.

Rainbow Cafe

The Rainbow Cafe is a SAFE SPACE social/support group for high school age gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth in Southern Illinois. We also welcome those youth questioning their orientation and youth members' heterosexual friends.


GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, is the leading national education organization focused on ensuring safe schools for all students. Established in 1990, GLSEN envisions a world in which every child learns to respect and accept all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. GLSEN seeks to develop school climates where difference is valued for the positive contribution it makes to creating a more vibrant and diverse community.

Lambda Legal

Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.

Human Rights Campaign

HRC advocates on behalf of LGBT Americans, mobilizes grassroots actions in diverse communities, invests strategically to elect fair-minded individuals to office and educates the public about LGBT issues.


The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) amplifies the voice of the LGBT community by empowering real people to share their stories, holding the media accountable for the words and images they present, and helping grassroots organizations communicate effectively. By ensuring that the stories of LGBT people are heard through the media, GLAAD promotes understanding, increases acceptance, and advances equality.
